No Pyro No Party
David Vujanic, London, England
As part of Goal Click London, in partnership with adidas, David Vujanic documented his experiences hosting an adidas London event with special guest David Beckham, before travelling up to Liverpool to see how the city creates a football atmosphere like no other!
I've always thought David Beckham would be a pretty cool guy. And damn did he prove me right. Beckham was a surprise guest at the new Manchester United kit launch at the London adidas store and his presence left many in awe. At the end of his chat on stage with myself and my friend Poet, he calmly posed for photos as those behind him hurried to get as close as they could to their hero.
For me personally, it was surreal to host him in a store where I used to beg my mum for boots as a kid. Furthermore, to add to the situation the gentleman in the cap behind him with the gleaming smile is a school friend I hadn't seen for years. If a picture is worth a thousand words, well believe me, this is one. To my friend, I'm proud of you, we've come far since the blue jumpers of Willesden.
NO PYRO NO PARTY. In and amongst welcoming the Liverpool team bus against Villarreal. The kid told me his Dad gave him the flare which I thought was absolutely brilliant. Parenting done right if you ask me. If you strongly disagree, you're probably suffering from excessive prawn sandwich munching syndrome.
Liverpool fans just know how to do big games at home. Especially the European nights at Anfield. An hour or so before the game against Villarreal in the semi final of the Europa League, the team bus came through a frenzy of people whose energy itself could have carried the vehicle to its parking spot. Simply stunning, a collective at its best, a shame the final wasn't held at Anfield.
